Allison’s Journey

My name is Allison Fleming and I am the Creator and Founder of Anonymous Angels YEG. An idea born out of my personal experiences of sexual abuse, Anonymous Angels was formed to be a part of survivor’s journey to healing, and to join in advocating for, and educating on, the topic of sexual violence.

From the ages of 14-16 I experienced several counts of sexual violence. After being touched by sexual assault I knew I wanted to be a lifelong advocate. I created Anonymous Angels for the purpose of creating awareness about the topic and the impact that sexual violence has, as well as to unite survivors near and far. I feel that for as for prevalent the issue is, the representation of sexual violence and advocacy for survivors is minimal. I am seeking to speak authentically about my experiences, in hopes to provide comfort for survivors.

Neil’s Journey

My name is Neil Campbell, and I am a childhood sexual abuse survivor. At the age of 9 I was sexually assaulted by a trusted neighbor over the span of a year. My trauma was so significant that I blocked it out until I was 12 years old when I started having flashbacks. My perpetrator was approached and admitted what he had done to me and that is where my journey into darkness and despair began. Over the past 36 years I have struggled with alcohol abuse, unhealthy relationships, self-destructive behaviors, even suicide attempts. In 2016 I was at my lowest, I simply wanted to die, to make the pain go away. Somehow, I found the courage to walk into The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE). From the day I walked through those doors my journey of healing had begun and it continues today. In 2017 I went public telling my story and have not looked back as I currently do public speaking events for SACE, The United Way and I am on the resource committee for The Little Warriors Be Brave Ranch. My life's purpose is to tell my story in the hopes that I can help someone out of the darkness and into the light, to find their voice, to find their freedom.
